For private equity focused firms like Kirkland what are some ways you could justify an interest in private equity without direct experience? i.e. would it be reasonable to say I enjoyed variety in x experience, and PE involves lots of companies in different industries, or is that reaching too much?
Hmmm… I was trying to suss this out, but I’m more drawn to disputes heavy firms and litigation.

However while I was trying to conjure up unique ways to express my interest in PE without any experience, I was thinking on teasing out experience from part- time jobs and the sector agnostic element of working in different industries (fashion/supermarkets/ footwear) idk if this would work though?

I found the artic shores assessment alright, watched a couple vids about it before, the video interview was also okay imo, the three questions were quite broad in the sense that a lot was able to be said, worried about the timing tho, feel like i talked too much for 1 and not much for q3, wbu?
was it mostly competency based question?

This might sound like a stupid question, but if an application asks for references, what exactly are they looking for?

I am almost finished with my Paul Hastings SVS application and it asks for two references, but I don’t know what that means lmao. This is one of the perks of a first application cycle. 🤣

Is this like an academic reference so maybe a lecturer or professor from university, or is this an employer reference? Is it kind of like the UCAS teacher reference thing? Please help. 🥲
