TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2025-26

@Afraz Akhtar Hey Afraz! I hope you're doing well. I'm fortunate to be in the position of having 2 ACs, but their dates clash. Firm A sent me an AC invite this Tuesday with three dates, and I picked the latest of the options. Firm B sent me an AC invite today, but their only date clashes with Firm A's. What should I do? Should I email Firm B to ask for a later date, even though they didn't offer any, or should I email Firm A to ask if I could swap to an earlier date? I chose a later date for Firm A initially as the first two dates fell on the week I had double essay submissions/double tutorials, so wanted a bit of a spread of stress.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

@FoodieMcFoodieBigBack I must say, stressful or not, this is a nice position to be in so congratulations on the AC's!

As Firm A had more options available, I would first reach out to them to ask if you could change the date. If there is no leeway there, then try the same with Firm B. If however, both are quite stern, then you're going to have to stick with the firm you prefer the most. However, that doesn't mean to say the other is cancelled per say, you should ask if you could be considered for a future scheme and see if they would carry your application over for AC for that one.

Good luck! I hope either firm can honour the date change!

Thank you so much for the advice, @Afraz Akhtar ! I really appreciate the swift reply. Just as a follow-up, how should I approach writing the email? Should I mention that I have a clashing AC, even though I booked a time slot for Firm A first, or should I keep it vague and say I have "immovable academic commitments"?
