Application Reviews & New Features

Hey guys,

I've really enjoyed reading your applications over the last few months and well done to those of you who've secured interviews.

I would like to announce that from the 31 March 2018, we will be introducing new criteria for application reviews. These are based on the points system listed below. The number of points may adjust in the future but if that's the case I will let you guys know in advance.

10 points = 1 Application Review
15 points = 2 Application Reviews
20 points = 3 Application Reviews
Edit: Points are now allocated as follows:

• 10 points = 1 Application Review
• 25 points = 2 Application Reviews
• 50 points = 3 Application Reviews
• 100 points = 4 Application Reviews

Over the next few days, I will be implementing a number of ways to receive points. They will be based on a number of factors from thoughtful forum contributions to post likes. You can view your points in the 'Members' section of the forums.

We are introducing this so we can better support the students who have contributed to our community and to have some fun in the process! It will also help me to work on website updates and the commercial awareness posts.

Hey guys,

We are in the process of making a few amendments to the points system so you may see a change when you next login. Don't worry, we'll also be adjusting the points for an application review - I will provide a proper update tomorrow. Enjoy the long weekend

Ok new changes! Remember they start from tomorrow.

We're updating the points required for an application review. If you have 10 points, you are entitled to 1 application review. For the following further points, you are entitled to another application review. So:

• 10 points = 1 Application Review
• 25 points = 2 Application Reviews
• 50 points = 3 Application Reviews
• 100 points = 4 Application Reviews

And so on.

You will now be able to see your points next to your avatar on the left. To answer a few questions we've had, you can find the current points system below. We will be updating this as we go along.

• First Message - +1 Trophy Point - Post a message somewhere on the site to receive this.
• Somebody Likes You - +2 Trophy Points - Somebody out there gave you a positive rating. Keep posting like that for more!
• Welcome, Vac Schemer - +3 Trophy Points - You have an upcoming vacation scheme, welcome to our private forums!
  
• Rising Star - +10 Trophy Points - You've posted 10 times, we think you're a star!
• Valued Member - +3 Trophy Points - You've received 5 positive ratings, thank you for your good contributions!
• Exceptional Contribution- +5 Trophy Points - Your post has been identified as exceptional. Thank you for your contribution!
• Keeps Coming Back - +5 Trophy Points - 30 messages posted. You must like it here!
• You're Popular - +6 Trophy Points - You've received 10 positive ratings. Keep being you!
• Can't Stop - +10 Trophy Points - You've posted 50 messages. I hope this took you more than a day!
• I Like It A Lot - +10 Trophy Points - Your messages have been liked 25 times.
• Featured Writer- +15 Trophy Points - You contributed an article and it has been featured! Great job.
• Seriously Likeable! - +15 Trophy Points - Content you have posted has attracted 100 likes.
• Addicted - +20 Trophy Points - 200 messages? Impressive!
  Popular Writer- +20 Trophy Points - Students love your articles, keep it up!
• Can't Get Enough Of Your Stuff - +20 Trophy Points - Your content has been liked 250 times.
• I LOVE IT! - +30 Trophy Points - Content you have posted has attracted 500 likes.

Application reviews take 2-3 working days.

We have a big update coming up over the next few weeks. To celebrate, we are offering a points-free application review until this Sunday 15 April. In other words, you can send us one application this week and it won't use up your points! To take advantage of this, please quote "Allen & O'Melveny" in your message .

As application season is about to restart, we're offering a free application review for everyone (even if we've reviewed your application already) until 31 July 2018.

For further application reviews, the trophy system will still apply as normal.

A few students have asked about the trophies recently. We've actually made a few changes to the points system to make it easier for you guys to get points.

Please see the additional trophies below:

• Welcome! - +5 Trophy Points - You introduced yourself in the welcome lounge!
• Sharer- +5 Trophy Points - You shared a useful article in our forums!
• Useful advice - +5 Trophy Points - You shared some helpful advice about applications/interviews or vacation schemes!
• Thoughtful! - +5 Trophy Points - You asked an interesting question on our forums!
• Thought Leader! - +25 Trophy Points - Your post has been featured in one of our guides!
• Commercially Aware! - +15 Trophy Points - You've shared your thoughts on a legal or business news story

Once we launch our courses then we'll also be issuing points for students who complete them.

I'm in the process of writing an application but the deadline is Monday 15th October. In order to get a review in by Friday, when would I have to submit it by? I understand it would take 2 working days but would I have to submit it by a particular time tomorrow?

Ideally by evening (8pm or so). If it runs over to Thursday that's fine, but please drop me a message to say you need a more urgent review.

Just a quick question about trophy points: are they allocated automatically? I believe I've introduced myself in the Welcome Lounge but I don't think this has been reflected in my point score!
