Cadwalader were also entertaining another merger with someone else a little while ago no? I can see the drive for HL to want to compete with the NY boys but for Cadwalader to expand eastward makes little sense to me. Partners haven't voted on it yet so it could swing the other way. IIRC Shearman...
The client demand of full service combined UK and US capacities. Odd mixup of practice areas but the common denominator is a lack of fleshed out practices in their relevant jurisdictions, unlike say that of FF or CC. Even HSF needed to expand if they were going to outpace with the market, and...
4th one in the last couple years. Funny that cross border demands are driving firms to become truly transatlantic full service. The traditional MC and SC are no longer... I suspect another NQ pay war to be incoming as US money starts flowing into UK practices.... Wonder how S&M, Linklaters and...
Funny really, you can't base your success off of anyone else's. When you do x SJT, when other people got their confirmation email, blah blah blah doesn't really impact anything. Keeping this message board to solely comparisons of success and the occaisional informational message from future...
Oh I didn't know. Perhaps there's hope for a belated Christmas present. Fingers crossed the AC is conveniently timed, SQE exams in Jan already running a nut on people. Thanks!
Not seen anything post 2nd stage. Only really post app and a few people I know irl getting post SJT PFOs having not met the benchmark for stage 2. Judging on last cycle, people were getting DTC AC invites up until the end of Jan so don't count yourself out the running yet until you hear back.
Hi, I don't often post on here but felt the need to respond to this. I hope you won't take anything I say as either gospel, or an indication on you as person or as an applicant.
Keep your chin up. If there's one thing in the world that you have control over it is your own ambition. Measuring...
It's tricky. Especially without firm sponsorship, which can be helpful but even then not cover your cost of living. In my experience (currently at ULaw Bloomsbury) most people (non-sponsored) will use a combination of the government postgrad grant (they will do either the MA Law or LLM SQE) and...
Somewhere on their website it says the deadline for when they will get back to successful candidates, if you haven't heard in the week following I'd assume PFO.
I definitely agree, with a slight caveat. The really quick auto rejections for grammatical errors and sub par academic achievement without mitigating circumstances give an idea of which firms are more heavily reliant on AI use. Not to say the applicant I was responding to necessarily falls into...
Don't feel too disheartened! W&C recieve over 4k applications each cycle, there's plenty of people in the exact same position who are adequately qualified but for whatever reason overlooked! Don't forget that there isn't a formula for success in these things, they're never for granted. In fact...
Trust me, I am in exactly the same position. I completely understand the lack of consideration given to perspectives outside his own experience, bear in mind he qualified some time ago and with a TC straight from university. I don't think it's fair to assume everyone is able to self-fund, but if...
