TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2024-25

Hey All, Just an early heads up that we will be locking this thread on the 1st August. It won't be going anywhere in case you want to search through old posts, but we'll be moving over to a new thread for 2025/26. This is because the next cycle is (already) almost upon us 😮 This year's thread...

TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2024-25

It is very taxing to do multiple vacation schemes. If it was me, I'd focus on the end goal: after another two weeks, you could come out with multiple training contract offers and you'll be grateful for what you've achieved (especially if they don't all convert).

Worried about my grades and Applications

The important part here is that you received an overall 2:1,, and the 2:2 modules won't stop you from getting a training contract. I would just make sure you nail the other parts of your application. Firms will also factor in the mitigating circumstances you submit :)

I need some advice pursuing the PGDL now

Hi @RaniaH062002, thanks so much for sharing your situation. My sense is that you should do what you need to prioritise your mental health first, and you can review what you need to do to focus on your law firm journey later, even if that means taking some time out. Have you spoken to BPP and a...

    application prospects post-second year improvement

The way I'd see this is that (1) you clearly had extenuating circumstances in your first year and (2) you showed progression from first year to second year with a high 2:1. I'd still keep in mind the need to write many high quality applications to firms you are interested in (and definitely do...
