    Winter Vacation Scheme 2018 Thread

Same here. I can't work out if that's a good thing or not though. Less time to get assessed if you are bad I guess but I hear the quality is higher.

No TC after GDL - Next Steps?

Seeing as you've already secured interviews/AC's at top firms, could you not just work at another job for now and apply for TC's in the next cycle?

Mental health for lawyers: the impact of long working hours

Wow that's pretty crazy. Thanks for writing that out!

    Commercial Awareness - May 2018

Yeah definitely. There's a whole company section which summarises the company news and then there's usually more in-depth pieces, although that can get quite specific at times. Might as well go for the offer Jai mentioned and see if you like it - that's what I did.

How do I make my training contract applications stand out?

Aha ok thanks, I've been talking about my extra curriculars and then the skills I gained (rather than focusing on what I actually did) so I'll change that up. Also how would you usually end a question like that? Like if the question asks you to talk about working under pressure, I sometimes end...

    Commercial Awareness - May 2018

That's what I do, I've found it to be a really good summary of the week and they explain things in a way that makes sense. I don't really know how people can afford the FT unless it's offered by their university.

Commercial awareness for 'smaller' law firms

Not sure if this is of any use but I was reading this (have to do some legal research for uni) and there's some good info on the differences between city law firms and non city law firms/more national firms...

    Law firms as a business

Thanks for this. Someone sent me this. It's really detailed and can be a bit confusing at times but it covers a lot of the stuff on how law firms work: https://research.legalservicesboard.org.uk/analysis/supply/static-market-analysis/business-models/...

    VS conversion rates

I think their vac scheme is a bit different to most- more for students to see the firm rather than a main driver for recruitment

    Introduction to LawTech

Yeah fair enough. The extent of my coding knowledge is an intensive weekend I went to at uni, but the teacher wasn't too good, which made it less fun. So I'm not too sure if I'd like it, it just sounds quite cool haha.

    Introduction to LawTech

I see. I think that sounds like a good thing tbh, if you start working on it now in a few years it'll be much less in its infancy. Out of interest, why would you go for consulting instead of tech e.g. heading to Google to learn the technical skills? I assume it's because you prefer to do the...
