Of course it will vary by firm, but has anybody had success asking their firm to cover accommodation for a vacation scheme?
I'm doing two weeks in July with a firm, and it's an hour train away, which isn't too bad but it's closer to 1hr 45/2 hours door to door). I'm fully prepared to commute...
Out of curiosity, is anyone planning to apply for non-law related grad jobs/schemes alongside TCs/VSs in the next cycle, or has anybody this cycle?
As a non-law (STEM) student, I've heard it can be very difficult to get paralegal positions and other legal roles without having done the GDL. So...
CC SPARK rejection, disappointed but not surprised, it's just so competitive. But with that my cycle is just about done, still waiting on one 'first year insight day' which I'm not sure I'm even available for so, let's just summarise now. As a 2nd year non-law student, with quite poor A-levels...
Sorry you had to deal with that. It's quite surprising to me though. I've only had 1 AC, but I was the only 2nd year uni student. There was one third year, 2 recent post grads, who'd graduated last summer, and then there were 3 older applicants who were in other established jobs.
It's rude none...

As a non-law student I'm in a similar position, I haven't done that much research but so far the only firm I have seen that doesn't require the PGDL is Baker McKenzie, somebody told me that was the case with BCLP but I don't think that is true. It's possible there are others, but ultimately I...
You have nothing to lose by asking, but I don't think that would be very likely. Next winter is a different recruitment cycle, so you'd have been assessed differently to everyone else on the scheme, but like I say, if the alternative is not doing the scheme at all then definitely ask!
any updates from baker mckenzie? completed my VI on the 27th, and the email said to hear back within 2 weeks.
expecting a PFO but would still like confirmation lol
people who've applied to clifford chance, how have you gone about the achievement in the application question.
I've had this problem with previous applications, and I can never tell what firms want. I have no huge achievements to speak of really. I can either go with a) a more abstract...
Completed CMS and Baker McKenzie VIs, both went terribly so will not be holding any hope for them. Think I need to avoid firms with VIs next year as this seems to be where I stumble.
On the bright side, got an AC for the Fieldfisher DAS. My first ever AC!!!!
Generally yes, but I think it really does vary by firm, quite often there's significantly fewer places on a vac scheme/training contracts than in London. I spoke with someone at a firm's event about this. Wasn't given specific numbers of course, but was essentially advised that in some years a...
