    SQE - general discussion

Based on what we know thus far, is the general consensus that LPC might be a better route if funding isn't the issue. SRA is being quite vague, not sure why!

    Thoughts about the BPP controversy?

Sorry to hear this happened, not nice at all. Keep persisting with the complaint and demand a resolution (politely of course) and if not definitely do take it further to OES. They take time but they do work (from personal experience). Also make sure your tutor/supervisor is involved as well as...

Anyone applying or applied to Watson Farley & Williams? :)

    2020-21 Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion

100% agree, with LPC (PT) and getting some legal work experience seems really challenging to fit in TC/VS/other applications, let alone some leisure time. Constantly on the back-foot either for LPC or applications, feels impossible to balance all three perfectly. If I issue a couple of days...

    2020-21 Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion

Best thing would be to wait for their reply. Once you receive a positive reply/offer, let them know of this and I am sure they can accommodate you to a later date.

Hi, Hope you don't mind me sending you a PM in relation to Macfarlanes :) Thanks!

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

Same here. I feel like there is less pressure on the VC application than TC. I have heavily applied to VCs rather than direct TC as it feels firms are leaning towards the VC route, more than ever.

My route to (hopefully) a training contract!

Same here! That one was tricky and it did catch me off a little. Had to take in all that was given to me so I am on the fence for that one. Also finished Linklaters' test, that was less challenging but it may be due to the fact that WG is a popular/more available test.

My route to (hopefully) a training contract!

Hi Yasmin! Hope it all goes well for you, I am also feeling confident for this round. Just trying to manage the 3rd year workload along with it. GL :)

Which firms should I apply to for a vac scheme?

Whilst you appreciate your efforts and have improved since then, I wouldn't say you slacked off but now making up for it as it may come cross in a negative light, in my opinion. Maybe say something along the lines of the fact that you are not satisfied with your current results and looking to...

Which firms should I apply to for a vac scheme?

Hey! Do not worry, your A Levels are fine, I actually have the same results as yours and thus far I have had AC/VS with Macfarlanes, Bird & Bird, Baker McKenzie, Pennington Manches, Pinsent, Mayer Brown, Gateley and A&O. That is over the course of two years so do not feel pressured to apply to...

    Open day application

You are in the right direction, certainly include the volunteering, legal clinic and competitions but also include your activities outside educations too, so your travelling, interest in tech and all of that good stuff. If part of your work experience listing has the volunteering covered, then...

Which firms should I apply to for a vac scheme?

I would say do not worry about your grades for the moment. I was in the same position as you with not the best A Levels but my degree results were quite good. A low 2:1 is respectable and as long as you can portray you are working hard to get that up to an upper 2:1 or first you will be fine...

    Experience Examples

That is fine, but as Jessica said go straight into the details of what you have done, what you have gained from said experience and how you plan on using those skills your academics/career. I would say refrain from telling a step-by-step procedure of what happened and only discuss your role...
