Hello, thanks for the feedback! :) I definitely picked a few that I wasn't 100% interested in, but White & Case really stood out to me because I met with them at a law fair, and I spent a year abroad during my degree so I really wanted that international secondment haha! To be fair though, there's probably a thousand other candidates who have a year abroad as well to offer so I definitely need to work on trying to convince them to choose me!

To be more convincing, I think it is important to show you have been proactive in exploring the practice area you are interested in (and that the firm specialises in). It does not have to be from legal work experience (or even that time consuming), you can show your interest by reading books, attending open days and workshops and also networking with lawyers who work in the particular practice area you are interested in etc.

    Good luck!

Just a quick message to everyone who applied to Mayer Brown: the system they use for sending invitations isn't good at all. I got through to the test stage but did not receive an email (neither in spam nor my inbox, nor did an invitation it come up in the Correspondences section of Apply4Law) and only found out when I logged into Apply4Law where it said the time to do the test expired. I emailed them about this and hopefully they let me do the test.....
Likewise last year, I got to the AC for a direct TC but they never emailed me a link so I could choose my phone interview slot. I only found out when I got email saying I had been deemed to have withdrawn from the process having not chosen a phone interview slot. Thankfully, they let me do the phone interview.
So if you're waiting on an email from Mayer Brown, I'd recommend checking the Apply4Law system where you applied!

    Hi everyone,
I found out yesterday that I have been offered a training contract with Clifford Chance and I am unbelievably overwhelmed. I wanted to come on here to encourage everyone else to keep going and not give up because you can achieve your wildest dreams. I haven't had any legal work experience either, so for those receiving vac scheme rejections, please remember that it is possible without! I wish everyone the best of luck with their applications & I would be happy to help anyone going forward - please just drop me a message! :)

I've had a very similar experience. In my first cycle, all my applications were rejected at the application stage, then in the second I got some video interviews, tests and one in-person interview but still no offers. Things finally worked out this year (my third cycle)! :) So I hope you guys can see the progression there haha.

@maddie34567 and everyone else who would like the help - I currently have a bit of free time, so my PMs are open if anyone would like a second opinion on an application, or just wants some advice/to chat :)
I can't get over how nice everyone is on here! Thank you so so much, I will PM you now :)

Damn that sounds awful.. thank you for sharing. Do any other firms use the same system as Mayer Brown?

Massive congratulations on your offer!!! I hope you’ve been celebrating! ☺️

Would you mind mentioning when you interviewed as I’ve yet to hear back. Thanks!

Having a bit of struggle with CVMail application portal. Firstly is there no way to view your application after sending it? I forgot to save it to my PC before.

Also with both CVMail and Talteo (the one DLA uses), how would I be able to see if there was an update with the application on the portal?
