How Do You Manage Social Media Privacy as a Future Lawyer?

Hi all,
I’ve been thinking a lot about online privacy lately, especially as someone aspiring to enter the legal profession. Social media profiles can sometimes say more about us than we realize, and I’m wondering how others manage theirs.
Do you keep certain accounts private, separate personal and professional profiles, or use other strategies to protect your online presence? Any tips on staying careful without feeling like you’re missing out?
Would love to hear your thoughts!

Great question — it’s something a lot of future lawyers have to think about. I keep my personal accounts fully private and use a separate, minimal professional profile that I wouldn’t mind a recruiter seeing. It helps keep boundaries clear without feeling like I have to disappear from social media altogether. Doing a quick audit every few months also goes a long way.

I’m in a similar boat, and what worked for me was treating my online presence like part of my professional toolkit. Personal accounts stay locked down, and anything public is something I’m comfortable having attached to my name long-term.
I also do occasional “self-checks” — search my name, review old posts, that kind of thing. Resources like https://caffeyolly.com/ have some decent rundown-style guides on tightening up your digital footprint without going full ghost mode.
Keeps things balanced without feeling overly restrictive.
