Hi everyone! I will be sitting SQE this Jan 2026. However, I do not feel prepared enough to sit the exam. Is it possbile to defer the exam? I have already paid the money and if I cancel, I wont get my money back. So I was wondering if I could defer to July sitting.
Thanks!

Hey, I haven't personally sat the SQE but my friend was also in the same position - so I understand why you would like to defer. I am not entirely sure how it works, but from the SRA T&C's it seems like you're only able to cancel the exams NOT defer and provided it is within the certain time period you could actually get a significant chunk of money back minus the cancellation fee e.g. paragraphs 8-9. If the total cost you're paying after cancellation is still a difficult pill to swallow, I would get in touch with the SRA and see if they are willing to honour a deferral altogether. It could be that they decide this on a case by case basis, so it is worth a try. Good luck!
