Hey @Abbie Whitlock @Andrei Radu and anyone else who might have insight

I did a case study interview and in the feedback I was told that I was “too analytical.” How can I improve? And generally, what are case study interviews looking for? I thought analysis was a good thing💀
in what world is being analytical a bad thing smh

Do you mind pasting the whole email? This is interesting
Hello,

Thank you once again for your patience whilst we completed Phase One of our recruitment process and considered your application. We can't express enough how exceptional the talent has been during this recruitment process and the high calibre of applications that we have seen.

We can now confirm that Phase One is complete. However, due to the exceptionally high volume of strong applications, this now means that all of our Training Contract and Summer Scheme places have now been filled.

We understand that this is not the outcome you were hoping for but we truly value your interest in the firm and are very grateful for the time and effort you put into your application. We’re hosting a virtual employability workshop specifically for candidates who were not successful in this recruitment cycle, taking place on Monday 9th March 2026 at 17:30.

If you’d like to attend, please sign up using the form: the link

Thank you again for applying and for your interest in joining us.

Many thanks

If you was supposed to be explaining something to a client maybe you used to much detail or too many technical terms? Take what I say with a pinch of salt though

Honestly I feel like sometimes you should take feedback like that with a pinch of salt because I’m not sure what else they were expecting from you… 😅

Maybe they also wanted a broader overview of your analysis or more focus on macroeconomic trends (if you didn’t already do this ofc)?
The only thing I can think of is that maybe they were expecting a bit more debate? I’m not sure though

I think you might be right about the broader analysis though

Perhaps I didn’t fit their vibe 🤷

Is there any difference between a case study interview and a case study presentation?
yeah, I've done both at AC before and one is like an open discussion to see how you react to their questioning and the other is you speak then they question you on your points and potentially throw in curveballs. so they kind of gradually end up being similar but the presentation is obvs more looking at how you can present info in a succinct way. sorry thats probs a bit self explanatory lol

What a joke. You could’ve just closed the apps when you thought you reached the max number of applications which would be sufficient to pick candidates from. Why mention you’re non rolling on your tc page then??? Complete waste of time.
I'm personally never applying there again. This is the second time the firm has wasted my time.
