TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2025-26

‘Your performance was strong; however, given the exceptional talent pool this year, and with limited Assessment Centre places available, we are currently unable to offer you a place.

However, we want to assure you that your application still remains under active consideration and there is a possibility that we may still invite you to Assessment Centre at a later date.’

I’m confused is this a pfo or some sort of a waitlist?
I got the same thing. Taking it as a win 🙏

For DAC Beachcroft I don’t think we’re allowed to share the exact questions. But you have 3 attempts for each question, and you have unlimited time between each attempt, so even if you run out of time before the first attempt you can take more time for the other 2. You get to pick which of the 3 options to submit

How long do you have to answer each questions? 1 minute?

also idk if anybody has had this, but I assist at a legal clinic and did some work for a charity over the summer and in my recent interview I got the sense they thought I wasn't into commercial law enough. I was asked a lot of why not public law and how will you deal with morally reprehensible clients. can experience count against you? I also have some commercial experience, spoke about a deal I enjoyed + why, studied economics at a level like o.o
Whether it counts against you or not depends on how you answer the question I guess? If you say that the experience taught you about law in general, however you realised public law wasn't the best option to your skillset / interests etc then it can count for you?

Also it depends on motivations for participating in the experience, and whether those motivations overlap with commercial law.

I mean I guess it can depend on the firm too, and the length of experience.

1 minute for the first question, 1.5 for the rest (double the time for prep, so 2 mins then 3 for the rest)
Hi, thank you so much for this! I understand you cannot share the exact question but I would be grateful if you could tell whether the questions are more competence / motivational based or more like why DAC and firm-based?
