hey @Abbie Whitlock I was thinking of questions I can ask at the end of my ac interview and I was considering maybe asking that given the trend of Uk firms merging with US firms for numerous reasons, I would ask if the firm see themselves engaging in a transatlantic merger?

I dont know if this is too forward but wanted to ask something interesting to a Partner!

Has anyone heard back from Hogan Lovells AC? I applied summer vac and completed their Online Assessment on 11 January. Have not heard back, but saw that some people already received AC invites. Not sure if this is a PFO?

I also applied Withers summer vac and has not heard back at all since I submitted the application form on 17 December. Should I also expect a PFO?

Wondering the same for HL, did the assessment on 10 January

Most people have heard from the following post app except for MoFo, Winston and Ropes. Orrick sent out WG yesterday, V&E sent VIs over a week ago, Debs sent ACs out end of Jan and Akin has been doing TIs and ACs since Dec/Jan.​

So I guess if you got the capacity email you were probably a strong enough candidate to invite to interview but they were out of space

Maybe, yeah! Could also be the case that I was on the cusp, but there were minimal spaces left, and there were/are a few slightly stronger apps. My own fault for applying the day before the deadline lmao

Has anyone heard of a case of successfully leveraging a VS offer from one firm to advantage applications at another?

I.e. sending an email to grad rec explaining that you've received a VS offer for the same period, have x weeks to confirm, but are very keen on their firm and wondering if they are still considering your application.

I.e. sending an email to grad rec explaining that you've received a VS offer for the same period, have x weeks to confirm, but are very keen on their firm and wondering if they are still considering your application.

From what I know, you can ask HR to speed up a decision if you have another TC offer with a deadline. Some firms are quite explicit about allowing for this

I also know someone who was able to get an extension on their TC acceptance deadline at Ashurst while they were waiting for an outcome from another firm

I had this exact situation yesterday! Had an offer from a silver circle firm for VS. Was waiting on the outcome of an American firm for the same dates. I emailed the American firm explaining the situation to which they replied within 10 minutes, within 3 hours they called me back with VS offer. Obviously this is at the post-AC stage. Haven't heard of anyone doing this post-app.

For ACs with multiple components, is each component generally weighed equally or is there usually slightly more weight on the interview?

depends on the firm, I believe, some place more emphasis on the case study interview, while others want to see consistency throughout
