Good luck with your applications. I applied to loads too and got an offer! It does pay to get as many irons in the fire as you have time for and once you have researched a firm thoroughly and various sectors it does become quicker to do the next ones as you work out the routine of where to look for the info.

Got another 2 rejections today. I will definitely start focusing on some direct TC applications in the next couple of weeks. Low chance of me getting in via direct tc but it’s worth a try 🫠

I'm sorry to hear about the rejections, and it's totally understandable to feel a bit deflated afterwards. Try to remember that rejections don't reflect your ability or potential!

The fact that you are still planning to push on with direct TC applications says a lot about your resilience. This process really does reward people who keep going and adapt, and you've clearly got that mindset!

I had the exact same mentality about direct TC applications, but the one DTC application I made last cycle actually resulted in my TC offer. You genuinely never know, so it is always worth a shot! Wishing you the best of luck - I'm sure your persistence will pay off in the end

No problem at all!

Yes, I had a year of paralegalling experience from my placement year in my undergraduate degree, and three VS' (though I had only completed 1 at the point I sent my application). However, there are a few people in my DTC cohort that had no legal experience or vacation schemes! I would definitely recommend applying for paralegal roles or volunteering in a legal clinic if you wanted to build your experience - I volunteered in my uni's legal clinic, and it taught me so many skills that were helpful in assessments for TCs! However, I wouldn't say legal experience is absolutely necessary for most firms' DTC processes - as long as you can write a strong application and perform well in the assessments, you have a strong chance

Rejected from Addleshaw Goddard. And will definitely receive a rejection from Stephenson Harwood after that online assessment. Too many numerical questions. I'm thinking of applying to a few other graduate schemes that are non-law just to gain more commercial experience. But I feel like once I start working in another field, it'll be hard to pivot back into legal with all my commitments 😢
