Generally a firm will ask for academic references if they want them. I would not do so unless requested. For example, Jones Day will not proceed with an application of interest to them without an academic reference and that is one they request on the basis of referees the candidate supplies on the initial app. This is done directly by the firm.@Helena Hi, yes--we can often attach additional documents to an application and I was wondering if I should attach a letter of reference written by the academic referee?
