Hmmm I would say that this almost certainly is because of Brexit given that Singapore signed a free trade agreement with the EU only a few months ago in October 2018!

Yes future proofing the business most definitely means that - particularly as the uncertainty over Brexit has been ongoing for the past 6 months at least.
