Yay. This makes me soo happy! HUGE CONGRATS!
In terms of preparing for competency based interviews, it’s important to first acknowledge that it differs from a motivational interview. Competency interviews, quite literally, test certain competencies - organisational management, commercial...
From what you’ve written, I think there is much hope. I would say in the future be mindful of little mistakes like even spelling, grammar, or structural mistakes when submitting work as attention to detail is a key skill for a lawyer. However, mistakes are a part of life so I do not presume you...
I’m sure you’ve heard of this before, but any experience is valuable experience! Criminal defence is indeed a very interesting area of law. When applying to commercial law firms, you could easily link that role to the white collar defence practice of a firm, or litigation/ intl arbitration, and...
Hiya. I’ve replied to this in the VS thread. From my view, the best way to approach this is by messaging people that work at the firm on LinkedIn and coming in with insightful questions after they give you the go ahead to ask any questions via chat/ or a coffee chat if their schedule permits this.
I presume different companies may have different ways of grading these, perhaps through a metric or a numerical scale, though this may not be disclosed to applicants. In my personal opinion though, I can imagine how difficult it will be to precisely mark something like a recorded written...
Before accepting any offer, try to find out whether the role is paid hourly or comes with overtime, as this can make a significant difference to your total pay. Some firms offer fixed salaries with no overtime, even if you're expected to work extra hours. Others do pay overtime, which can...
You’re such a positive force @ssszzg , and this is so true! It would be very rare for a candidate to precisely nail all questions. Think of it this way, and from a very simplistic and logical perspective - there are certain things any given individual prefers to talk about, than others. This is...
I’m really sorry to hear that you are feeling this way. I totally understand how stressful the process can feel at times, but I really just want you to know that everything will be okay - regardless of how it may feel like right now. I always ay this - the mere fact that you are still in the...

Hi there,
I’m unsure about this, but I do know that generally, prep time is limited. I have only ever heard of one firm, SH, that has unlimited prep time. However, in any case, feel free to email the recruitment team to confirm this.
I believe I know of a couple of people that have gotten TCs through this route at the firm. If a firm wouldn’t recruit many people via that route/ or even one person at all, the portal will close and a notice will be sent out to applicants letting them know.
The way I also like to see...
@SamiyaJ , I completely understand this. It’s why TCLA has been working so hard to generate a WG tool to help applicants - more info to come on this soon. In the mean time, I’ve quoted a post by Ram to help.
