I wouldn't worry too much about your WG Scores, this is because each firm uses the WG differently. Some have a "base" you must beat, others will use it as a competitive process. Many last year wrote to Linklaters to get their scores. I have a feeling when I did the CC WG I got a result at the...

    Commercial Awareness - Podcast Thread

With application season opening, I'd highly recommend adding a few of these to your daily listen. You'll be astounded how 20-30 minutes each day can transform the way you think about and understand some of the key commercial issues in the market!

This is common for FF and happened for me this cycle. Anecdotally, mine showed as updated and I had heard nothing post-WG. I was then advised I would be invited to an AC. The truth of the matter is that they are likely deciding how many TC offers to make post-VS. The interviews concluded...

    Open days

Nothing beats a bit of hard work - I'd advise just visiting all the websites and noting them down yourself in a spreadsheet if you have the time! Ultimately, someone on a website has to do that anyway to compile the list.

From my recollection, you can edit at the end? Just go through, type "x" in the box and copy the question down each time. Or - just make a new login to do so if you are worried. I do remember the platform being quite obnoxious last year. There's a few firms that use different platforms, when we...

Open Days/Networking Events - My Recommendations & Strategy

As a broad assumption - Most firms who hold open days simply provide places on a first-come-first-served basis. This is almost exclusively true for US Firms (anecdotal experience here). This is absolutely not the case for firms like CC, who last year advised they had over 800 applications for...

Just to piggyback on the comments already made. You also don't need to list EVERYWHERE you've applied. Just select three firms that fit with the narrative that you are portraying. If a point you have made is that you want to train somewhere with a small intake, you don't need to tell them about...

I was able to juggle multiple extensions with firms. Feel free to DM me if you want some specific advice. Jessica's advice holds true, however.

Applying for training contracts having already accepted an offer

There are some firms who like to put a clause in their contract saying the offer is void if you have already accepted a TC. Whether this is enforceable or would be enforced, is another matter. @Jessica Booker would be the authority on whether you can renege or the consequences of it.

Manage your Vacation Scheme Applications - Spreadsheet Download

Afternoon all, Please find attached the spreadsheet I used to manage my Vacation Scheme Applications last year, created in conjunction with my good friend at University. It was our baby. It contains: - Type of Firm (US, MC, etc) - Trainee Salary - NQ Salary - Rolling Apps - Direct Link to...

    Allen & Overy SJT

I'd prepare by getting as deep of an understanding of A&O's core policies and what they look for in a trainee. I did this test last year and in my view (and from my recollection), it was fairly straightforward. I note the advice above - Give the practice test a go! :)

A very brief bit of advice. I would base your research on the following areas (this is very, very brief): Work - What work do they do? Who are there clients? Where are they focused? How is this different from their competitors? Business Model - How do they run their business? Where is their HQ...

    Clifford Chance TC

I relayed a few of my points loosely to CC initiatives. One thing to also note - They specifically request you list the CC open day as separate in the work exp section and talk about your experience there.

General, Commercial Stories themes for AC discussion

A brief pointer from my own experience - I've gone through three interviews recently. Every single firm asked me to introduce a topic to them to talk about and I was grilled on it. Therefore, I still advocate the same strategy when thinking about commercial issues in interview - Know a couple of...

Don't worry too much! I'd imagine they are finishing up TC Interviews from their VS before booking new AC's etc. They likely need to see how many spaces they have to recruit etc. For a point of reference, I was advised I'd hear back mid-August from FF.

    Clifford Chance TC

This must be a change of policy - All of my friends who were on SPARK in Year 1 interviewed in the Summer and had until December that year to accept. If they have changed, that is no doubt welcomed as it put a lot of pressure on them to accept.

    Clifford Chance TC

Clifford Chance are making significant changes to the way they recruit. For example - The "Vacation Scheme" in it's traditional sense is on the way out at the firm. You can see through their various initiatives that the firm are adopting an alternative method of recruiting. Will this be the...

I honestly don't know! It's one of those things that I don't want to worry myself with because, at the end of the day, I only have one offer currently. I don't want to bother myself with a situation that may never occur :D Of course, if I'm fortunate enough to be given another offer, it'll be a...
