    Interview/Open Day/Vacation Scheme Updates- Coronavirus

I only did the VS interview so I have no idea how they will expand upon that unfortunately!

    A Levels & Equivalent

The best bet would be to contact the law firms directly. They are used to dealing with a multitude of qualifications. Hopefully, they can advise!

    Interview/Open Day/Vacation Scheme Updates- Coronavirus

Agreed, but equally, this is not the approach Clifford Chance took... I'm grateful for it! :)

Would you recommend Christopher Stoakes books?

It as a pretty easy read. I'd recommend getting one of the older editions (they mostly have the same content) as it'll be much, much cheaper. Definitely worth it!

    Interview/Open Day/Vacation Scheme Updates- Coronavirus

Freshfields is now going virtual for their Summer Scheme. Interestingly, they are committed to paying the full amount regardless of the actual length of the scheme. A nice touch!

    Interview/Open Day/Vacation Scheme Updates- Coronavirus

Perhaps. I do get the impression that CC is moving away from VS's though as a recruitment tool. They only have one summer VS this with 20 people on it. They seem to be recruiting primarily from SPARK, Direct TC and their new scheme.

    Interview/Open Day/Vacation Scheme Updates- Coronavirus

Yes, I think so. There are now 5 days max (3 classroom, 2 work shadowing in the Winter). This would seemingly explain it. They have backed themselves into an odd position, however, as they are not going to be interviewing until the Winter. This obviously poses a problem for persons who have to...

    General Discussion Thread 2020-21

I 100% agree with this - Do not research something just because you think it'll make you look good. I hope that wasn't what I was conveying in my post. I chose a topic that I was interested in, supported my narrative, and had commercial application. Furthermore - Yes. Ensure you know it. In two...

    General Discussion Thread 2020-21

My own personal take on these questions is to avoid anything cliche or overly current. I start this by saying that by doing either of what I mentioned to avoid, you are not doing the 'wrong' thing. They are absolutely fine to do. And, if those are what you are comfortable dealing with, then...

    Resources other than FT/TCLA?

7 minutes a day for a few months really up-skilled my commercial awareness! The beauty of it as well is that you have a lot of time to get to grips with it all :) I also highly recommend Chris Stokes book (as referenced above). Beyond that, I also did some audible books written by Michael...

    Resources other than FT/TCLA?

The key with "commercial awareness" is understanding that it is not something that can be crammed. I posted a podcast thread on here - https://thecorporatelawacademy.com/forum/threads/commercial-awareness-podcast-thread.2182/ - Just by listening to 10 mins of that a day you will find after a...

    Interview/Open Day/Vacation Scheme Updates- Coronavirus

A brief update to say that Latham are putting on an extra VS in late Summer as an option for cancelled Spring Schemer's at attend.

    Interview/Open Day/Vacation Scheme Updates- Coronavirus

A real double-edged sword I agree. I consider myself someone who would shine in an actual office environment so practically doing the VS's was a significant draw for me!

    Interview/Open Day/Vacation Scheme Updates- Coronavirus

Woah! Now.... if my firms could do the same (rather than hold it online) i'd be really happy!

    Inspiration!

It's really, really short, so you can get through it easily! I'd use listen to it casually for entertainment rather than anything else. It's nothing like The Big Short etc. Also, it was the inspiration for a drinking game I came up with on a night out recently, if that helps :D

    The Quarantine Revision Thread 2020

Back to Land law for me today. It surprising how much I have forgotten since originally learning this stuff back in October!

    General Discussion Thread 2020-21

In my view, it's just become another PR tactics for firms to look to recruit the "best". To be fair, it has worked. American Firms are seemingly much more prevalent to the average undergraduate applicant nowadays and I imagine this is mostly thanks to the significantly higher salaries they pay...
