Came across this -- might be useful for these kinds of questions:
Depends on the law firm/the time scale we're looking at. It's also quite a subjective choice.
Of the ones you mentioned I'd rank cybersecurity, ABS and Brexit. I'm not convinced of US protectionism or new fee arrangements, but...
The question isn't asking you to criticise the firm, although if you find yourself making a critical comment about the firm, that's fine. You can choose something general (like Brexit or AI), or you can be specific to a firm (e.g. Freshfields trying to break into the US market). It's completely...
When you first posted earlier, I spent a good while trying to work out why you had 10 trophy points already. Then I saw it was your birthday. Happy birthday! If it makes you feel any better, I too spent (some of) my last birthday posting on TCLA!
For the avoidance of doubt, this is the trophy...
As far as I'm aware -- yes.
Sometimes, firms will get a weaker vac scheme round and recruit more from direct TC applicants, but that's not something I'd bet on. I'd suggest applying for a vac scheme if you want to maximise your chances.
I know @Coralin96 is busy this month so I'll create this thread for anyone to share links/summaries of commercial awareness topics for October.
This one is from Legal Week: https://www.law.com/legal-week/2018/10/04/uk-ma-activity-plummets-as-brexit-effect-begins-to-take-hold/ (paywall).

The last question is nothing to worry about. Read up on the firm and asked informed questions. In my interview, the partner asked me if I still wanted those questions answered -- or I was told I could ask new questions.
Definitely. Many firms see it as a way they differentiate themselves from rivals.
You can add Simmons & Simmons to the list of firms with a sector-based strategy.
The more you prepare, the more you are likely to get out of these law fairs. A few threads you may find helpful for coming up with questions at events:

You will have a harder time with Slaughter and May, although I wouldn't completely rule out your chances of securing a vacation scheme. Just make sure you nail your application.
Hi all,
I have come across several exceptional vacation scheme applications during my recent reviews. I have asked these students to share their advice on applications in this thread, so you can learn how they developed their application technique.
If anyone else wants to share any application...
Yes -- if the question asks about the impact on law firms and not firm X, then your answer doesn't need to be specific to a firm. Just be sure to make clear connections to law firms.
Good advice from @Sandrou. @KLaw125 also gave some helpful advice in this thread: https://www.thecorporatelawacademy.com/forum/threads/travers-smith-mitigation-circumstances-in-cover-letter.541/.
If it's too large, you can try uploading the file to Google Drive and sharing the link.
Something I came across which is another good way to differentiate US firms and MC firms (particularly in favour of MC):
US firms have struggled to crack high end public M&A work in London (advising FTSE 100 public companies on their acquisitions/sales/exits).
All the biggest M&A deals in 2016...
