I attended an Orrick virtual event recently and in that the early careers guy said they look for a 2:1 (ideally a strong 2:1) and a minimum of ABB at A-level. He also mentioned they take mitigating and extenuating circumstances into account and use rare contextual recruitment. He said they are...
I went to their open day last week and they said they would begin sending online tests out by the end of Oct or early Nov. I assume they will start to send tests out this week or next.
Can anyone share what the White & Case online assessment involves, e.g., SJT, WG, verbal and numerical reasoning? Are there any VI questions as part of the assessment? This is for the White & Case WVS.
I also applied for Lift Off last week and have yet to receive the 1st stage test. Not sure if they are dealing with the WVS apps and ACs first though, since that is in Dec. Lift Off is in late Jan so they might send those tests out in batches.
Cheers matey! This is for the 4th Nov open day. I applied pretty close to the deadline. Most likely they are sending invites in batches, since they have a few other open days in Nov.
In the email Weil sent after I submitted the 8th Oct insight day app, it said apps are reviewed on a rolling basis but before invites are sent out, all apps would be reviewed by early careers.
For the 8th Oct insight day, the deadline was 28th Sept and I received my invite the next day, on the...

They assess the application, SJT score...

If you apply for the Winter vac scheme, I don’t think you would be able to apply for the Spring or Summer vac schemes in the same cycle.
If you apply for either...
If it’s the same as last year, it’s a mix of verbal and numerical reasoning, SJT and WG. I don’t think there is a VI element to the test. It might have changed for this year though. Best of luck with the Macfarlanes app and test! 🙂
Thank you @Ram Sabaratnam for all your help and support on the forum this year. You helped so many of us achieve our dreams. Best of luck with your training contract at Cooley! 🐐
Last time I checked Queen Mary was ranked as a top 10 uni for law on CUG, so I’m not entirely sure what you were aiming for here. 🥴
The only person who’s cooked is you lmao. You can’t even spell ‘Russell group’ correctly, so you should work on that first ‘lil bro’. 😂
Also, somebody had already...
The way I understand the question is it’s asking ‘why you’ and ‘why Macfarlanes’, but not in the traditional format or structure. 😅
I guess the main objective is demonstrate your interest in Macfarlanes and your suitability as a future associate at the firm.
I would approach it with the...
