Is the fast-track arrangement common in the legal industry or just limited to Linklaters only? I have applied for HL vacationscheme and will be attending their open day this week so it would be great if I could fast-track my application.

Unfortunately the rather frustrating answer here is that it depends on the specific firm. Some firms, such as Latham and Linklaters, are known to have a different assessment track for VS applicants who attended an Open Day. Anecdotally, for some other firms attending an open day does not seem to...

Just to update, I've been doing some research to see which firms I'm able to apply that A) have a vac scheme, B) accept penultimate year non-law and C) accept my a-level grades/have no minimum requirements and I've come up with a very short and intimidating list indeed haha...

It is possible to secure a TC through direct TC route. Most firms offer this option. You can find out which firms offer this via a simple Google search. As for which firms typically recruit from their vacationscheme cohort, you may find the attached thread useful.

For anyone wondering, they consider more the Capp test. When I did it, I considered their framework. However, there is no specific way to pass the test. For the WG the benchmark is quite low, you just need to pass it.
