If in an interview, you are asked how would you respond to a fellow trainee being rude to support staff, how would one approach that?
My initial reaction is to chat to the trainee, and politely explain that their actions are impacting others, and perhaps if they reconsider what they say. Though...

Two cycles ago, I applied to TS, got an interview for their VS, and I did the latter. If I recall correctly, it was a box type of answer(rather than submitting an attached cover letter), so I think Dear X is fine(certainly was in my case)
Does anyone have any tips for situational/scenario interviews? Like " Imagine you are a trainee..." sort of interviews.

re HL, I remember seeing on this forum(several times) that people emailed grad rec if they got rejected because they wanted to know if rejection was because of the app or WG scores(in the end it was because of their application IIRC). Perhaps it might be best to contact the graduate...
