You can (and should) definitely try again. If it makes you feel better, I only decided on commercial law a few days before the main deadlines in December. I had no formal legal experience and managed to secure a magic circle direct TC offer. There is always hope!!
I wouldn’t say it’s a disadvantage but they do interview in batches, so the earlier you get in the better. They’re very flexible in terms of changing your interview date - I said I had a competing deadline and they moved mine to the next week! They won’t hold it against you so don’t wordy
This! It’s okay to take a minute or even ask them to rephrase the question - it shows you’re really thinking through your answer and aren’t just impulsively answering :)
Apologies in advance for this slightly cringy post but I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped me through this process - I have received a Direct Training Contract offer from Slaughter and May! Unexpectedly, I received a call from one of the Partners at 8:45pm last night...
Would you say then, it’s harder to get an offer through direct TC because they will keep places open for vac scheme holders? Or is it really just making up the group of 80/90 on a case by case basis?
Okay, thank you. I have a competing deadline and the grad recruitment said the partners will let me know once they have checked with my reference so I was just wondering if it meant anything! They don’t seem to have been in contact with my reference for the interview.
