Mayer Brown pfo
Probably Ashurst pfo too as I haven't received the post-app written assessment yet. I will try my last shots with W&C and Fried Frank. Hope to overcome the “overqualified for an entry levle role” vs “underexperienced in UK law” dilemma
Just putting some numbers together based on Legal Cheek, looks like it's around 12 TCs at Paul Hastings, 15 at Macfarlanes, 12 at Stephenson Harwood, 10 at White & Case, and 4 at BCLP. Agreed, apply for the DTC!
I joined in the end, so I don’t have any notes to share.
However, I remember that grad rec suggested putting your preferred practice area at the top of the list to increase your chances of getting it in your first seat.
They also mentioned that a one-page cover letter is enough (1000 words)...
Unfortunately there is not such a ranking. You need to combine the information.
As said by @Ram Sabaratnam,
Legal 500 and Chambers are mostly based on client and peer feedback. Firms submit forms with 20–40 key publishable and non-publishable matters (deals, litigation, investigations, etc.)...
According to Baker’s email, this is the timeline:
-April 2025 - Successful candidates sent invite to undertake online tests and a video interview.
-May 2025 - Successful candidates will attend an assessment centre.
-May - June 2025 - Successful candidates will be offered a Training Contract to...
Just guessing, since I haven’t passed a single cappfinity test yet either, but I think each firm tailors the test based on their own core values.
One firm might prioritise adaptability, drive, and teamwork, while another might focus more on ownership, attention to detail, and commercial...
Thanks, that was really informative. I thought firms had pretty strict rules about future trainees attending in-person (especially for the PGDL), so it’s good to know there’s some flexibility.
Thank you, Jessica.
You're correct, it is too much specific. I will reach out to the trainees I found on LinkedIn
I still have three months until the deadline to enhance my application with these insights.
Thanks! Actually, what I was really wondering is how the Finance seat works at White & Case and what kind of tasks trainees usually get.
Do trainees rotate across all Finance subgroups, or can they choose a specific seat like funds or finreg? And if they can, what kind of work do they usually...
@Amma Usman @Andrei Radu and anyone else able to help
White & Case says "you’ll rotate through four six-month seats: one overseas, one in Finance and one in a contentious practice area."
Could you help me understand the difference between investment funds, financial regulation and private...
Did you attend the MA Law program in person or online? Was your firm okay with you attending online (if that was the case)?
I heard that firms require future trainees to have a minimum level of in-person attendance during the SQE course.
If I self-fund my studies, I would choose Barbri online...
You can check it out where other firms are opening and closing offices.
If it helps, AG took over Linklaters' premises in Warsaw, expanding to the Polish market (https://www.addleshawgoddard.com/en/news/2025/ag-expands-international-reach-addition-linklaters-warsaw-office/). Meanwhile, Mayer...
Well done. I've also submitted my application to Baker McKenzie. However, I have just two more applications (White & Case and Stephenson Harwood).
Waiting for Macfarlanes, Dentons, Withers, Mayer Brown, and Ashurst (tests received today).
Try checking out RollOnFriday and Reddit, you’ll find some honest insights there. In terms of career progression, Dentons seems worse than BCLP.
I know BCLP is great for anyone interested in real estate, planning, and construction. If these are your areas of interest, BCLP would be a great...
