    Linklaters 2019/20 Application

Thanks very much! Midway through October, and I'm hoping to get on to the Spring VS

    Linklaters 2019/20 Application

Got invited to the AC and now have to put in my work experience details. Are we only allowed to put in 3 different things in the work experience section? It's not giving me the option to put any more in which seems a bit odd considering they didn't mention there was a limit (to my knowledge at...

2.2 in first year, can I still apply to MC/US firms

Not sure if this is directed at me or Aicha, but thanks for this - that's really encouraging. I realise my 32 isn't an odd Desmond, but hopefully I can convince some firms at least that it was a one off, as I did show an upward trajectory. I went from a strong 2:1 in second year, to a first in...

2.2 in first year, can I still apply to MC/US firms

The only other result that I got below a 2:1 in my entire degree was a 58. I was really hoping the fact that I finished with a first and got a distinction on the LPC might balance out the 32 from my first year. But thank you, I really appreciate your honesty

2.2 in first year, can I still apply to MC/US firms

So it's a strike against me - but not the overwhelming negative I thought it was, providing I do well in other areas of the app? Sorry to keep bothering you, but I've been stressing about this, and it's really been affecting my motivation to do applications. I really appreciate you taking the...

Thankfully not! It was in my original history degree

2.2 in first year, can I still apply to MC/US firms

Thanks this is really encouraging. I probably am overthinking it (it's only one module grade after all!) but I just can't tell how a recruiter would react to it. Here's hoping they mainly focus on the overall degree grade!

2.2 in first year, can I still apply to MC/US firms

Hi just to follow on from this, I really messed up an exam in first year and ended up scoring a 32 on the module. It was only one of two modules that I scored below a 2:1 in my degree, and I went on to achieve a first overall. Will this have a massive impact on my applications? I can't help but...

I did my tests in early December and heard back on the 6th of January. Was quite a long wait

Sorry for the delayed response! Basically just a couple examples of what type of questions they might ask. I'm guessing they'll have the usual 'why law' and 'why Mayer Brown', but I have absolutely no idea beyond that!

Does anyone have any advice for the Mayer Brown telephone interview? I have it booked in soon and I'm quite nervous!

Thanks for taking the time to reply, it's much appreciated! Are individual GDL results not that significant then?

    Poor academic results

I was just wondering how much weight recruiters put on academic results. In my first year I got 32 in a module as I stupidly missed an exam that made up half the marks. Thankfully, first year didn’t count towards my history degree so I was fortunate enough to still be able to achieve a 1st...
