Hi there! I don't think it's strictly necessary. I've never completed a VAC scheme before and have only attended one open day, and accepted a TC offer earlier this year. There are so many other ways to demonstrate enthusiasm for and commitment to a career in law! :)
I really wouldn't recommend BPP. I'm studying the PGDL/LLM there at the moment. The organisation is appalling, as is the communication with students. It really feels as though they want your money more than anything else, certainly not to make great future lawyers. Considering their links with...
Hi there, I wondered whether any ex-graduate recruiters, perhaps @Jessica Booker, could help me with an odd question!? If you are a future trainee, and your firm is supporting you through the PGDL, SQE etc, do you know whether the firm gets to know your exams results before you do? I know that...
Hi there!
I am currently studying BPP's PGDL LLM online. The organisation at BPP is pretty poor, but the teaching has been good overall. Something that attracted me to the LLM option at BPP rather than ULaw is that you do the Masters portion (dissertation-like project) after all your other...
Wow! I can't even believe I'm writing this but just received a TC offer from my dream firm! I really thought this day would never come. After 2-3 years of rejections, and not a single VAC scheme/day of legal experience, I can't believe this has happened. Thank you to everyone on the forums for...
Hi folks,
I was wondering whether anyone could help me with a pretty stressful situation. I recently interviewed with a firm who have said they will get back to me with the outcome this week. However, they contacted me yesterday to say that they have had trouble contacting my academic referee...
Hi folks,
I wonder if anyone could help reassure me. I have my first ever in-person interview for a TC tomorrow. Whilst I feel the most prepared I've ever been for an interview, I still feel like there is so much I just don't know! I keep panicking that I need to read up on this and that but...
My apologies. At the time I wrote and submitted my application, that was the deadline they specified on their website for non-law applications, not trying to panic anyone.
Hi there folks – I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice on the following.
I have just graduated with a 1st (in a non-law subject) from a great uni.
I have been interested in law for a couple of years but only started making serious applications in September 2020. However, I failed to...
I see your point. 'Signing up' for either course won't make my application stronger. However, I think that once I have actually started studying law rather than an unrelated humanities subject then my application will be stronger. At present, I have a solid idea about the 'type' of career I want...
What would I do in the meantime? I feel like it would be a waste of time to wait and see if a firm will accept me for a TC, and that I should start the next stage of my education/training right away. I also feel that my applications will be much stronger once I have started the GDL. It can be...
I understand your response and that advice on this must be difficult, but I can't really afford to 'wait'. I will apply to as many firms as I can next application cycle in the hopes of securing a TC, as I haven't had much success so far while at uni.
