Can I continue my current career if I accept an offer for Training Contract commencing in 2022/23?

Do they? I’ll be working all the way through the GDL and leave when I start the LPC at the earliest. Links is aware of this, so I don’t see how this could be true! At the very least it’s not a hard and fast rule...

    Linklaters 2019/20 Application

I did the Capps test over two days, so I highly doubt it’s timed! I also took forever for the WG, so unless something has changed from last cycle, then it doesn’t matter how long it takes you

    Linklaters 2019/20 Application

I would take the above and what I’m about to say with a pinch of salt. Some people’s deadline to accept was at the end of August and I was told today that the deadline for scheme three is the 15th, but not sure about the other dates mentioned. In any case, seems like we can’t give a definitive...

    Linklaters 2019/20 Application

I applied for the spring VS, so not sure. However, @Paralegal178 may know?!

    Linklaters 2019/20 Application

The TC intakes for last years applicants have not been confirmed yet. Definitely go ahead and get your app in as early as possible, but presumably they will get back to everyone once they know how many places they have left

    Linklaters 2019/20 Application

You only need to submit your work experiences (up to 3) if you are invited to an AC and yes, there are no essay questions, at least there were none last year.

Community Guidelines and navigating TCLA - your input requested

I definitely am one of the people that prefer to share general feedback regarding VI and ACs rather than giving the specifics. I think if someone wants to share the specific questions, this can be done privately. We were also told that things shared at the AC are confidential and I’d presume it...

    Linklaters 2019/20 Application

the Capps test is just as important (if not more) than the WG test.

General, Commercial Stories themes for AC discussion

It’s quite an interesting subject. Basically there have been discussions on mergers that would normally not necessarily be approved due to anti-trust issues that might be worth approving still with environmental factors becoming increasingly relevant in the merger control assessment...

General, Commercial Stories themes for AC discussion

Something else that’s been talked about quite a bit recently is merger control in times of Covid and also in regards to sustainability goals! I haven’t seen a single case study that didn’t have an antitrust element to it, so that’s quite an easy one to bring in!

    Clifford Chance TC

but if they are not even running VSs, where are they saving costs then? Having to review less applications? Since everyone applying this year will be doing the SQE it’s not like they would have to pay to put anyone through the GDL anymore. I agree with you though, it’s extremely at odds with...

    Clifford Chance TC

I’m really glad I never had any intentions of applying to CC. This is just appalling to exclude every career changer or graduate. What if someone had mitigating circumstances and wasn’t able to apply before or found their passion for law later on? I feel like this is very backwards and...

    Linklaters 2019/20 Application

Yes that sounds about right. I think they offered 85% for the winter VS and it was 86% for the first summer one. There are definitely less direct TC places, but by the end it probably also depends on how many applications they receive for VS vs TCs.

    Linklaters 2019/20 Application

well, they usually have 100 places for VS across 4 different schemes and they offer 100 TCs and there is a TC for everyone on the VS if the person does well. Some will not accept the offer, some will be for a later intake (there was the option to choose between 2022 and 2023) and some will not...

    How to research law firms

You’re applying to a London law firm to work in London, so that’s hopefully quite self-explanatory! Linklaters happens to offer a specific programme to enable applicants from India to come to the UK, but by the end of the day it doesn’t matter where in the world you’re from, you are required to...

    General Discussion Thread 2020-21

It’s definitely not unheard of to start earlier than the intake and always worth mentioning, but at this stage into the application process it’s probably unlikely to be the case. Not because they will give it to someone who already has the LPC, but because the intake is simply full

    Self-Esteem

Hey Jennifer, thank you so much for sharing how you feel, it’s really brave to put these feelings out in the open. I wrote posted the below on my Instagram yesterday, so I thought I share it on here. Especially with social media being full of people talking about TC offers at the moment...

    General Discussion Thread 2020-21

I applied in December last year and received the review email 3 days after my application and was told about the outcome exactly 4 weeks after I applied. Seems like the process is faster earlier into the process :)

    Ask A Graduate Recruiter Anything!

I would think that most firms will be quite proactive in terms of looking after their employees mental health. Health and well-being for many firms will be part of their innovation strategy, so they will probably develop apps/platforms. The larger firms will probably also offer...
