This is brilliantly helpful - Thanks so much. Really it's just good to know it's possible to condense into 2 days and they seemingly do everything I could need in Manchester.
I appreciate it's probably all been online so might not be much you can comment on, but how have you found being a...
Hi everyone!
I'm due to start the LPC with BPP in September this year, but my firm have given me the choice between studying in Manchester or London: (tl;dr, I'm hoping somebody can send me the LPC study planners from those centres this year).
I'm leaning towards Manchester just because...
Ah amazing, thanks so much Jaysen.
Can't believe how little explicit information there seems to be on this, given how (presumably) relatively common an issue it must be. Did make me wonder if I'm just overcomplicating it!
Hi everyone,
Sorry if this has already been answered, but I couldn't find anything clear either from a quick search on here or a look around the internet/HMRC site in particular! I'm doing my budgeting for transitioning out of life in full time employment and into full time LPC student from...
Hi!
I've of course never interviewed anyone for a TC, but have been on interview panels in a professional context & done lots of mock interviewing (specifically for Oxbridge Law applicants) and think this can be really common so wanted to throw my thoughts in. For what it's worth, I think it...
Sorry I don’t really understand what you mean! Don’t vibe with the description as in, you disagree and had a different experience? If so, completely get it - main point of that post was to highlight the diversity of experiences people have at Oxbridge (and within most unis) it’s so specific to...
I think the reality is probably, as you suggest, somewhere in the middle. Workload is definitely intense; a supervision essay every week compared to friends at other unis who maybe did one/two essay a term definitely requires a lot of effort and teaching in groups of 1-3 means there's nowhere to...
This is something I often see said, but haven't actually ever seen any evidence for. Does anyone have a link to any research that's been done into it? I appreciate it's a problem inherent in the silo'd nature of the UK HE system, and I suppose would need academics from a range of universities to...
This is interesting and I think there's a huge amount to be considered further / seen as a caveat here (the context in which someone achieves their A Level grades in relation to their peers being the most important of those, also it being a 1 firm sample size I think), but my main question is...
Aah so sorry that it wasn’t better news for you - but feel like you can definitely take pride in having completed the Insight scheme, means you’re already a brilliant candidate for HD next year, or lots of other firms given you have the experience under your belt! :)
Ah I'm sorry to hear that, but as others have said I'm sure there will be better news in the future, and I feel like getting to the interview is something you should definitely be proud of & take confidence from for future applications!
Thank you - Submitted my application towards the end of June, so hopefully it's just that they're still working through some of the others. If not, it definitely seems like it'd be a great place to do a VS!
Good luck both!
On a side note, was really struck by how warm and genuinely keen to get the most out of you in an interview the interviewers I had were. I'd seen this sort of thing mentioned before I applied but didn't know if it was just standard marketing comms.
Ah yep, just checked and had mine through too - a shame but like you say, mine had exactly the same message about filling from the placement scheme. Sorry it wasn't better news for either of us!
Has anybody heard anything back from Irwin Mitchell?
I know they said they don't review apps on a rolling basis so not too worried yet, just wondered if anyone had any wisdom.
