Please state the month/year you interviewed at the firm.

    January 2020

Please specify what the interview was for.

    Summer Vacation Scheme

Please give an overview of the day with approximate timings.

    10am - arrival
    10.15 - interview
    11am - presentation
    11.45 - written task
    12.30 - finish

Please provide a summary of each assessment on the day with approximate timings.

Interview - only half an hour, mix of SJT and strength-based questions, no competency questions at all. interviewers guide you to the right answer if you hadn't quite gotten the correct answer

Presentation - 15 minute presentation with a partner and member of grad rec, with a flipchart aid. 10 minutes of questions after this about the topic, where the interviewers would try and challenge you

Written task - half an hour to read a bundle about 6 pages long, and answer 3 questions. quite time pressured and most intense task of the day

Please list any interview questions you were asked.

    What motivates you?
    Why BLM?
What do you do in your spare time?
    Why law?
What would you do if a client tells you you've performed a piece of work extremely badly?

What is your best advice for each aspect of the assessment on the day? Please break this down for each assessment. This can include advice for preparation, as well as tips for the day.

Interview - this was the easiest part of the day, try and be pragmatic with your answers, especially with the SJT section of the interview. the interviewers will correct you if you're wrong, so try and seem as open minded as possible, even if they tell you you hadn't quite got the right answer

Presentation - try and avoid cue cards and be as confident as possible. the interviewers will ask you some tough questions afterwards, so try and stick to your convictions if they ask you to consider an alternative viewpoint

Written task - extremely time pressured and there was no clock in the room, so make sure you leave enough time for drafting/editing. there's also very specific instructions, so if it asks you to ignore a piece of evidence, make sure you do so!

    Were you successful?

    Yes
