Does anyone have any tips on how to tackle the 'tell us about a current affair and why it interests you' question? Is it ok not to link this back to a firm? Thanks!

It doesn’t have to be linked back to the firm unless they ask you to (some do).

Pick something you are genuinely interested in.

Pick something that will have some connection to the type of law firm you are applying to, it can be as loosely as they work with similar companies in the sector you are talking about, or that it will impact what they do as a business, or what any of their clients do as a business.

Try to explain it in simple terms. Don’t copy and paste jargon to sound impressive - write it in layman’s terms so it comes across as your writing and your ability to explain something simply
