Lunch w/ trainees and office tour - also informal</p><p></p><p><strong>Please provide a summary of each assessment on the day with approximate timings.</strong></p><p></p><p>Competency and case study interview done together - competency was 30 minutes and case study was 30 minutes as well. We were given 15 minutes to prepare for case study.</p><p></p><p>Case Study:</p><p>- A joint venture taking place, you need to assess the risks and how to mitigate them</p><p>- This was a page long</p><p>- In the interview, there was no presentation, we went straight into questions</p><p></p><p>Scenario:</p><p>- Partner invites you to a client dinner but you have a lot of work, what do you do?</p><p>Client wants you to sign a deal, but the partner is not there, what do you do </p><p></p><p><strong>Please list any interview questions you were asked.</strong></p><p></p><p>- Tell me anything about yourself and how you got here today?</p><p>- Why commercial law over any other type of law?</p><p>- Why not work in-house legal?</p><p>- Why Hogan Lovells?</p><p>- Why law in general?</p><p>- The rest of the competency interview was about my application, work experience and extra-curriculars </p><p></p><p><strong>What is your best advice for each aspect of the assessment on the day? Please break this down for each assessment. This can include advice for preparation, as well as tips for the day.</strong></p><p></p><p>- Be calm and relaxed, the interviewers are friendly and want you to do well!</p><p>- With each scenario, re-read it once more before answering each question as you might miss a key point in the scenario that is important to answering the question</p><p>- With the case study, use your time wisely. It is not a long case study so it requires you to be a bit creative with your answers when thinking of risks and solutions </p><p></p><p><strong>Were you successful?</strong></p><p></p><p>Yes</p></blockquote><p></p>
