Hello! I'm applying to Paul Weiss and was struggling to answer the first question that roughly trasnaltes to why firm, My research keeps coming short to just all the lateral hires the firm has been making and not really sure about how to use this to talk about the firm's work or their strategy.

I've been noticing this for a lot of PE US firms- there's not a lot of information per se on London presence other than hires, likely cause they have been here for a short while? But how do you deal with this and differentiate between firms in the PE space as they only difference I can see is scale of transactions.

Hi! That's a completely valid concern to have.

I would maybe try to see their band rankings, is there any difference in comparison to other PE related firms: K&E, STB etc.

From memory, I believe Paul Weiss is especially good at antitrust in comparison to some other firms.

The lateral hires themselves can also showcase strategy: what is the firm hiring in? Are they hiring a practice/sector that you may be interested in etc.?

You could also go into the details of their TC: is there anything different about the seats or opportunities you get to do?
