If I am currently doing a law degree outside of the UK, can you explain the trajectory from my current position to my first day as a trainee (in case I'm selected for a Vac Scheme and offered a TC)
you could apply for vacation schemes in your penultimate or final year of university.
If successful, you do a vacation scheme in either 2021 or 2022
You graduate in 2022
You choose a method of preparation for SQE stage 1
You pass SQE stage 1
You start your qualifying work experience (QWE), this could be a traditional two year contract or it could be 4 x six month placements in different organisations (the latter is more difficult if you are an international applicant needed a work visa though)
Towards the end of your 2 years of qualifying work experience, you prepare for SQE stage 2.
once you have 2 years of QWE experience and have passed SQE stage 2, you are a qualified solicitor in England and Wales.
