I think I've got some breathing room this week to catch up on studies a little, which is really welcome!I'm currently working on a Goodwin Open Day application to see if I could find out more about the firm and if it's one that fits with me (I understand they're very active in PE and Life Sciences, the latter I'm not all that keen on). I've also submitted Weil and Mayer Brown Insight/Open Day applications so hopefully those come through! As it's almost 8pm the evening before Davis Polk's first Insight Day this year, I think it's safe to say that I won't get in despite being on the waiting list but Grad Rec have assured me that I'm welcome to reapply for their next Insight Day in November, so I will try and touch up my application and resubmit that!I've decided to forgo Cooley this application cycle because while they've been such brilliant and lovely people in all my interactions with them, I personally can't really picture myself working in their key sectors. At best, I might be interested in working with founders/VCs/startups but I don't have a strong enough conviction outside of their culture to apply to Cooley.I've completed the VI for NRF, that wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and I'm glad it's over now. I probably could've been more structured and concise in my answers but I'll learn from this and hopefully get to show my improvement in the next round if I make it through (They've advised the outcome won't be known until 27 Oct at the very earliest). Fingers crossed we just happened to be a very strong group of candidates in this particular group of five people 😄 I'm attending an Evening Reception with Hogan Lovells on Wednesday so that should hopefully be good fun and a chance to really see if it's a firm I can see myself working in before I finalise and submit my application for their Lift Off Programme. Also considering doing the Willkie Quiz as I just might be able to squeeze it in before the reception.In terms of applications for the rest of this month, I think I'll be looking at:Paul, Weiss November Open Day (fingers crossed) White & Case Open Day Gibson Dunn Open Day Freshfields Direct TC Clifford Chance Insight Day/Direct TC (not sure if I necessarily want to go for the Insight Day just yet) A&O Shearman Direct TC Travers Smith's Direct TCI do wonder if applying to the MC firms is a bit of a waste of my time because I'm admittedly not that keen on their large intake sizes, but they're prestigious with good track records and at least Freshfields and A&O Shearman have imo much simpler processes this time. I think I would rather do their Online Assessments rather than spend a few days writing applications 😅But that covers it for now, until next time!P.S.
