Message: <blockquote data-quote="DavidJC" data-source="post: 225389" data-attributes="member: 4361">Happy December, I didn't realise this much time had passed since my last update, so much for posting something here every 1-2 weeks to keep myself accountable 😅 I fell sick about two weeks ago and I wanted to post over the weekend but I think I simply had to prioritise the encroaching deadlines.I've just submitted my applications for Davis Polk, Skadden, and Baker McKenzie today so, many fingers crossed for those, I find myself liking US firms the more I research them, so here's to really hoping!Anyway, there's plenty more applications and tests to go through this month so I'm gonna keep holding out hope. I've decided not to apply to Linklaters after all, which is a real shame cos I think the people I've met from the firm in-person were really nice and the work is interesting to me, but every time I've attended a Linklaters webinar or virtual event so far, I've found their process and and progression criteria rather off-putting, and my gut tells me that Linklaters simply wouldn't be a good fit.Moving forward, I'm looking forward to getting my applications in as I feel myself improving my ability to research firms and articulate that research, and I hope the enthusiasm comes through when Grad Rec read my answers. The next 2-3 weeks are rather spicy with realistically 3 non-rolling deadlines but 6 other rolling deadlines that I want to get in, but this week is my last set of classes before the Christmas break and exams, so hopefully that gives me the necessary space for all of them. At least they all follow the same theme of being US firms strong in PE/Funds/Banking & Finance so some responses are more directly transferable between applications, with tweaks to tailor it to the firm.I'm heading down to Proskauer for an Open Evening on Wednesday, which I'm really looking forward to since they seem to keep such a low profile otherwise. I've also finally got some more extracurriculars in the pipeline, though I wonder if they're all a little too closely related to law/business and would make me appear boring 🤔That's me for this update but I can feel my confidence improving and I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that this cycle will be my cycle to land a VS and a TC.Wishing everyone the best in their own continuing journeys.
