Are the investors like Kevin O leary, Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Daymond John etc VCs or Angels or what? What practise area in a law firm helps facilitate the type of deals made here?
I don't know about the profile of all of them, but the people on these types of shows tend to be angel investors rather than venture capitalists (they tend to be high net worth individuals, investing their own money rather than that of a fund, at early stage rounds). You'll be looking for firms with some kind of startup focus, although the practice area may come under different names. Here's Cooley's: https://www.cooley.com/services/practice/emerging-companies and Osborne Clarke's: https://www.osborneclarke.com/services/corporate/venture-and-capital-growth/.
Isn't the role of the solicitor who is going to conduct due diligence and going to facilitate the transaction remain the same in all such forms like VCs, Angels etc?
