Initially I wanted to do computer science at University but it only took me one university talk to decide it was really not for me, at this time my school sat us all down and asked us to start writing our personal statements for university. I looked around and everyone had their heads down and typing away, I had no clue. My brother had done the GDL and is now a practising barrister so I suppose that had something to do with it, I was a bit nerdy when it came to ICT and we were learning about the laws that affect our systems that we had created in our coursework. But honestly, legally blonde sold a law degree really well! I got into my dream university but I felt like a deer in headlights, everyone in my seminar group had studied law at A level and seemed like they knew what was going on and how to structure essay questions. This made me sink into my shell, I didn't think I was good enough and at the same time I was trying to control what I know now was quite a bad case of anaemia, I was constantly ill and in and out of the doctors. My results for first year came, no surprise I got a 2:2 and I was gutted, my parents were supportive and asked if I wanted to drop out because they could see I had an overall miserable first year. However, I wanted a degree and law had been that degree I had chosen so I persevered. I went to the doctors at home and finally was getting some iron into my system to control my anaemia. It wasn't until I sat down in my second year tort law class I thought, wow, this is interesting and I'm good at it. I still had a bit of fear about my grades so didn't even consider TC applications in second year, nevertheless, I got a 2:1 (Yay)!. Now I have completed my LPC self funded, on the look out for 'entry level' paralegal roles that require 6 months experience (make it make sense) whilst also applying to TC's. This is probably a long winded way to say, Elle Woods had my dream life and she still does :D
