Update on V&E:

‘Thank you for your email – the panel are considering applications at the completion of all interviews and hope to be informing all candidates of the outcome within the next week to two weeks.

Regarding the dates, candidates are invited to spend one week of us between mid-June and mid-August. We will therefore take into consideration dates when successful candidates are unavailable and seek to accommodate these when confirming allocated weeks. Hope this helps!’

I am (Forsters! I was on the first AC on Monday (28 Feb) and I specifically remember Emma Cooper (HR) saying we can expect to wait until April for an outcome, which is why I was shocked to see someone on LinkedIn get a vac scheme offer!

Anyone else still waiting for Forsters or Farrer post-AC?

Has anyone heard back from DAC Beachcroft post VI or know when we’re likely to hear back?

Heard back end of may last year and ACs were July they do things in big steps and you’d know for the video interview they gave everyone a long period to do it

I'm still waiting to hear back from Freshfields post-app (TC), Gibson Dunn post-app (Summer VS) and Dechert post-VI & written task (Summer VS) - is anyone else waiting for any of these? I'm considering emailing Dechert's grad rec as my VI was over a month ago now, should I do that (@Jessica Booker)?

I there are several. They sent me an email saying they’re still reviewing apps and hope to get back to everyone by end of March. Hope that helps!

I’ve been invited to an AC for a direct TC and was given the option of 3 slots. The first two are in the next two weeks and the last one is in exactly a month. I picked the last one as this will be my first full-day AC so I wanted to the extra time to prep (I work full-time so can only prep on weekends).

The email invite recommends booking onto the earliest available assessment day that able to attend as recruitment is on a rolling-basis. Will I be adversely affected by going for the latest one- can this last slot be cancelled if TC spaces are filled in the first two? Does it become more competitive/harder at later AC slots? If so I might change to the one in two weeks.

Would really appreciate any advice.

Hi! I don't have a TC yet but from my own VS experiences and from what I've seen on the forum, if the email invite recommends booking onto the earliest available assessment day and states that recruitment is on a rolling basis, you'd be much better off booking the sooner ones.

Perhaps you can call them to reschedule?

I ended up going the later one as a result and a lot of people in my AC got it so if you feel like you’d perform better on a later one then don’t be too worried about this!

I’m still waiting. There are a bunch of firms like Travers, Mishcon, Gibson … etc etc, that have decided to reject you only about 1 month after they fill the spots for the vacation scheme. It annoys me so much I can’t even explain it

So I asked for advice and I was told that firms usually guess well that they will have places left on the last AC. I ended up going the later one as a result and a lot of people in my AC got it so if you feel like you’d perform better on a later one then don’t be too worried about this!

I had the option for 3 AC slots 2 being at the beginning of January and one being mid February. I chose the February one and got the Vac Scheme offer eventually so I don't think it's a massive disadvantage. Do what will mean you're best prepared and perform best.
