What does it REALLY mean to do well as as NQ/senior associate?

And what are the factors to determine success when being a lawyer? I'm thinking expertise in a specific area, amount of successful deals...

This is such a great questions and I'd be curious to know what other people on the forum think! I'm guessing that success at the NQ level would hinge on how responsive, communicative and intuitive you are re your clients' needs and how well you work with the firm's strategy, different teams and offices, and how enthusiastic + technically excellent you are while working.
