Vacation scheme and full time job offer

Hi,

I’ve been lucky enough to have been offered a vacation scheme for the summer, however I’m facing a bit of a dilemma because I have recently been offered a full time job (not law related) starting a couple of weeks after the vac scheme.

If I get offered the tc from the vac scheme, I’d have to do the gdl first as I’m non law. Would I be able to accept this job and work while doing the gdl? I’m assuming I’d have to disclose this to the other company but naturally they would likely rescind my offer.

Well done on your vacation scheme!

This is tricky. I'd expect the firm wouldn't want you to have a full time job while studying. Given a firm is usually funding you/and providing a grant, they'd rather you focus on studying.

It is something you could discuss with the firm, though. A part time job is usually a lot more reasonable.

I thought this would be the most likely scenario, but yes definitely if it gets to the tc offer stage I will ask the firm their position on part time and full time employment. I currently work part time so I'd just continue at that job if only part time is okay.
