TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2026-27

Does anyone know what to put down, and in what kind of detail, for the 'Other experience' entry in Ashurst's work experience section? I'm not sure if they want us to put down work experience that won't fit in the four provided boxes (CV Mail), or if they're looking for open days / insight events etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@Abbie Whitlock 🙏

Hi Hi @Abbie Whitlock, when answering Tell us about any open days and events that you have attended in the legal sector would it be useful to include any open days with other firms if there was a competitive application process
Hi!

Yes, definitely! I would say that it is worth including any open days you have attended, even if they are with other firms. It shows that you have actively sought out opportunities to learn more about the legal sector and that you were successful in securing a place.

However, I would prioritise the events that were the most relevant or interesting, and that you can actually say something meaningful about, rather than trying to include every event you have attended :)

Hey!

My understanding is that the "Other Experience" section could be used for any additional work experience that doesn't fit into the four main entries, rather than just for open days/insight events. However, I don't think Ashurst has explicitly confirmed what they expect applicants to put in this section, so I wouldn't be able to give a definitive answer - apologies!

If you do have additional work experience, I think it would be sensible to use the space to briefly explain the role, what you did and anything you achieved or learnt from it. For open days or insight events, I would prioritise mentioning the ones that are the most relevant to your application :)
