Hi there,

I am currently completing the OC VC application and the first question is about an opportunity facing one of their sectors/ why this is interesting to you/ and how OC can help (500 words). I have a few ideas but interested to see what others have come up with (not to take and use but as a point of comparison). How narrow did you go?

    Hi Iris,

The more specific you are the better. I'd suggest really honing in on one specific sector, reading about both the challenges/opportunities facing that sector and then tying that into how different practice areas at OC can provide advice on those issues or help clients capitalise on those opportunities. Being too vague about the sector/the opportunity isn't going to demonstrate the commercial awareness/research firms want.

Going to link you to a couple of existing threads on the OC app here (these don't necessarily deal with the question you're talking about but could help you anyway with the app):

Thanks for your reply. I am worried about talking about a very technical business opportunity to the tech/ comms sector and then being asked about this at a later stage. It is a growing trend that is predicted to grow over the next year, and one of their clients (Vodafone) is already investing in it but I do not want to catch myself out by writing on a very complicated topic and then not being able to give close details because of the technicality.

    What do you think?
