Competency Interviews

Hi, apologies if this has been asked before. I have an interview with Dentons in a few weeks and apparently it's heavily competency-based. As far as I'm aware, it's sort of a golden rule that you should use a different example for each competency/question. However, I don't have the widest variety of work experience, for example I've worked in my current part-time job for two years. Is it okay to use different examples from the same role? For example, could I use my current job both as an example of effective teamwork and as an example of dealing with a difficult customer, and outline different scenarios? Or would that be seen as being too repetitive?

Hi Hannah,

Yes it's perfectly fine to use the same role but different situations/scenarios you dealt with in that role! It would definitely not be too repetitive and if anything will display your commitment to excelling in the roles you have taken on. I also really can't imagine anyone that has eight or ten completely different recent roles to draw on for each of the ten or so questions that you'd get asked. That would be kind of crazy actually
