Gibson Dunn requires a 650-word cover letter to be submitted in a text box on their application form. Should I include the standard formalities of a cover letter (address, salutations, sign off etc.)? Thanks.

I applied on the 3rd of September. No response. I do not know what to expect!I haven't applied yet. Have you?
I haven't included formalities like the date and address in the cover letter but have included a salutation and sign off. What did you do? Did you just jump right into the main content/body of the cover letter i.e. "Why law", "Why Gibson Dunn" and "Why me"?I applied on the 3rd of September. No response. I do not know what to expect!
