Multiple TC offers?

I have a question for people who received more than one offer for a training contract:

How did you make the decision about which firm’s offer you would accept which which you would turn down?

Of course, everyone’s priorities will be different, and we may look for different things from a TC experience. But I’m interested to get a sense of what people take into consideration when making this important decision.

Hi! I was in a similar position a year ago. This is a very personal decision and can come down to a wide range of factors, depending on what matters most to you:

    • Specific seats/practice areas you’re keen on that one firm offers but not the other
    • Secondment opportunities (client or international)
    • Prestige/reputation — realistically this is something many people consider
    • Style and level of training
    • Size of the trainee cohort (smaller vs larger can feel very different)
    • Perks, benefits, and firm policies (e.g. hybrid working, wellbeing support, culture)

At the end of the day, it’s about which environment you can see yourself thriving in for the long term. Also, it’s fine to think beyond qualification, but remember you can always move firms later — so when choosing, focus primarily on where you’ll get the best training and experience over those two years.

    Hey @WillKitchen,

I was also deciding between multiple offers. On top of @ZNadeem's wonderful advice, I would also say that you'll instinctively gravitate towards one firm over another. I tried to imagine what it would feel like coming into the office every day for (at least!) the two years of a training contract, working with the people I met at the vacation scheme, from other potential future trainees to associates and partners.

This actually helped me go beyond the 'practical' points and actually take my feelings and emotions into account too :)
