TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2025-26

follow up question (forgive the ramble): do you guys reckon having work experience (and actively working) at the law firm you're applying to for a vac scheme give any meaningful advantage? (i.e. 6 months working [at a different office than the one you're applying to] while on a year abroad)

Weil PFO. Fair play as the video interview was not that great

I think it doesn't matter, but it does give you advantage because you have worked at the firm, so you would know more about the firm, use that in interviews.

it covers pretty well the "why law" and "why this law firm", which is something many get rejected for. Other than that, would not be surprised if some law firms contact the other office asp (if someone from that office reaches out to them with a kind word or two it probably helps even more).

Edit: I would assume that the more "one firm" the firm is, rather than essentially a franchise (not naming any names), the better.

I think it definitely does, as long as you show you are interested in the firm and have found your work experience meaningful/its made u realise you want to pursue a career at the firm and why
