Just my personal approach. I did them somewhat distinctly, but did link back to how the things that initially made me want to pursue commercial law were specifically relevant at NRF.
Does anyone have experience with requesting to change from WVS to SVS?
I know it varies firm to firm but just generally speaking I'm wondering how common this is or if its a bit of a long shot.
They also (it appears) interview lots of people, and that is probably why they are sending out invites so early as they have a lot to get through. Presuming PFO after a few days is crazy lol.
@Jessica Booker Do you think using an academic achievement as an answer for CC's "tell us about your greatest achievement" question is a poor answer? I feel like its not really in the spirit of what they're asking. I was planning on referring to past failures and saying its an achievement...
Just do research on the skills the firm values and keep that in mind while doing it. Beyond the obvious things, like never considering to help a colleague over your own objectives, it really does vary. I passed A&O's but failed others, its tricky.
Honestly, I feel like if you go to any of the RG universities as long as you have a mid 2:1 grades shouldn't really limit you except for the select US firms and Slaughter & May etc.
I feel like the Oxbridge favour gets overblown a bit. a 2:1 from a RG uni puts you in a great position almost...
I interviewed at Slaughters and W&C with similar grades, so if its a firm you're really interested in go for it.
Worst case scenario you spent a day applying to a firm you didn't get interviewed at.
My approach is to group "open day/one day events" into a single category. But something like campus ambassador I'd put in its own unless there was an extra curriculars box.
Sidley Austin has made it so difficult to find the application page that I'm convinced my odds are substantially higher on the basis of it scaring 90% of applicants away.
Hi im not Jessica but I was in the same position with Macfarlanes and during my feedback phone call with grad recruitment they told me to change the answers if I apply for the direct TC but the general reasons could be similar.
