So I am going to just have a word vomit:
So i have an interview tomorrow with Linklaters - and I feel soo inadequate. I honestly don't even know why I am going. I know I am going to get a rejection and there is literally no point. I don't want to embarrass myself or have my hopes up to only...
For poeple that got to Linklaters AC - I did the work experience section but I have completely forgotten what work experiences I put down (i know very stupid of me). Does anyone know if it is possible to access it because I really do not know how 😬
Can one be a paralegal or legal assistant as a non-law without having done the GDL or LPC/SQE? I am just prepping for when I fail and get rejected post- AC 🥲
What do you mean by recruiters? if possible, could you recommend ones?
Honestly, i don't think you will be able to write too much. I haven't done the AC yet - but if they give you a few pages of reading and a letter/memo/brief/ email to write in half an hour - that is literally no time. I guess the key thing is to make sure you finish the task rather than focusing...
Good evening all!!
I am really struggling to answer the 'what is your biggest failure' question. Do you think it is possible to have a less tangible example - i.e. not believing in myself or always trying to make others happy but not thinking about what would make me happy.
Or does it have...
quick question (i think) - what is the difference between the roles consultants play in M&A and investment banks?
Also, who else works in ALL M&A deals (apart from lawyers): buyers, sellers, lenders, accountants, PR, tax advisors, environmental experts, regulators, insurance companies...am i...
Thank you for responding. But practical law isn't just legal knowledge - but they go into depth about lets say debt vs equity in financing an acquisition. But within that let us say you chose debt - would you choose an overdraft (adv/disadv), term loan (adv/disadv), Mezzanin (adv/disadv) - and...
...question - do you guys use 'practical law' (or any other legal resources) to learn about M&A. Or is that too much detail? Because I am soo scared that I do not have enough info/knowledge for the case study
I do not get it - why are white people getting more of an advantage in the SQE? It is an exam no...if you study more then you pass? (I am not white but I am just curious what this means)
I am confused- in the article u linked it says the following:
" In 2019/20, 57.7% of students successfully completed the LPC, which will eventually be replaced by the Solicitors Qualifying Exam, compared with 58% the previous academic year.
The number who failed the course – not including...
Is this a normal statistic? do on average only 50% of people pass....and here I am thinking getting the TC is the hardest part 😭 😭 😭 Imagine getting a TC then getting it taken away because of a failed exam.
I thought that them sending the WG meant we had passed the application stage no...? So technically it shouldn't take them long to see if someone reaches their benchmark or not. Or is their initial view of our application superficial and they actually review our application in light of our WG...
Hi everyone!!! I have two questions i was hoping to get help for. I have a few ideas but i do now know if they are the main ones or even accurate.
1) why do law firms keep track of non-billable hours.
- is it because law firms want to be efficient i.e. if they see that a lawyer is doing a lot...
YH tbh after the interview I realised what people mean by an interview is a two-way street. I really did not find it enjoyable and I know that experience would have remained with me even if I got it.
